Count down - January
So, with Christmas & New Year done and dusted, I'm happy to say that the plan is alive and well. I had my Visa approved in mid November and for the first time in my life I'm saving money like crazy.
I went round speaking to travel agents today, they all said that it was too early to get flights booked. Am I being ruthlessly organised or just impatient?
Probably the latter. My job it seems has lost all meaning. I have some amazing & lovely people working for me, but that's where the enthusiasm ends. I have no desire to progress or be seen by the new operations manager to be a 'can-do' 'go-getting' kind of employee. I'm really good at what I do and I just want to keep my head down and get through the next nine months. I wanted to try and keep it secret from work, just in case I was to be considered for a promotion or something, but that's highly unlikely with the direction that place is taking. It seems to climb the management ladder you need to think more about the needs of the business and to a certain degree forsake the feelings and demands of the people that work for you. That's just not something I'm willing to do...and I think they know that. I'm finding hiding my plans very difficult. Especially when normal conversation drifts near the subject of travel and adventure.
I'm just so excited.
